Remediation Services
Securing Your Property Before More Damage Sets In
A broken window or an open roof doesn’t stay a small problem for long in Alaska. Snow, rain, and wind get in, pipes can freeze, and an open building invites break-ins. If there’s been a fire, we secure the gas, electrical, and plumbing first, then close up the openings right away, so we protect what’s left of your property while we plan the repairs.
Our own carpenters take it from there and rebuild the rotted framing, siding, and walls a vehicle damaged, and we handle any roof repairs too. We match what’s already on your building, down to the cedar siding, so the repair blends in.
How Remediation Works
Our Board-Up and Structural Repair Process
01
We answer and head your way
Call us 24/7, and we’ll ask what happened and send a crew that typically reaches your building in about 60 minutes.
02
We secure the openings
We fit plywood over broken windows, doors, and holes in the walls, tarp the open sections of roof, and stabilize the damaged area, so snow, rain, and intruders stay out until repairs begin.
03
We write the repair scope
We photograph the damage for your adjuster and put the repair scope in writing for you to review, so you see the full plan before we start rebuilding.
04
We repair the structure
We rebuild the framing, siding, and interior walls and handle the roof repairs, then go over the finished work with you, so you’re back to using every part of your building.
In an Emergency
Staying Safe After Structural Damage
Get Clear of Hazards
If anyone is hurt or you smell gas, get everyone out and call 911 from a safe distance. Stay well clear of any downed power lines, and report them to 911 or your electric utility.
Stay Out of Unstable Areas
Keep everyone, including children and pets, out of any area where the roof sags or the walls crack or lean, and stay out until the fire department or a building official says it’s safe.
Photograph the Damage
From wherever it’s safe to stand, photograph the damage inside and out before you move anything, and keep receipts for emergency repairs, since your insurer will likely ask for both.
Call Our Team
Don’t climb onto a damaged or snow-loaded roof. Call us at (866) 604-8697, and we’ll send a crew to cover the openings and secure the building.
Our People
Our Alaska Board-Up and Repair Crews
The crew that boards up your building is part of the same Taylored Restoration team that comes back to repair it, so you’re not explaining the damage to a new company. Our carpenters repair storm, fire, and rot damage on Alaska buildings every winter, so they know what snow load, ice, and freeze-thaw cycles do to a structure that’s already weakened.
Taylored Restoration also gives back to Alaska through the Scotty Gomez Foundation, Rush Soccer Club, Elite Sports Fitness Center, and the Alyeska Ski Club Golf Tournament.

Taylored Restoration Services
Restoration Services After Structural Damage
Once a storm, fire, or crash opens up a roof or wall, the damage rarely stops at the structure. Rain and snowmelt soak the insulation, mold can start in damp walls, a fire leaves smoke and soot behind, and belongings often need to come out while we repair. We handle all of that alongside the board-up and rebuild.
Water Damage Restoration
Our crews pull out the rain or snowmelt that came through an open roof, so it doesn’t soak into more of the building.
Water Damage Restoration →Mold Removal and Remediation
We remove mold that can start in wet framing after roof or wall damage, so it isn’t hidden behind your repairs.
Mold Remediation →Frozen Pipes and Ice Dams
We dry out the water from frozen pipes or ice dam leaks behind the damage, so it doesn’t ruin ceilings and floors too.
Frozen Pipes and Ice Dams →Reconstruction and Repairs
We rebuild the interior rooms the damage reached, so your repair is finished inside as well as out.
Reconstruction →Contents Cleaning and Storage
Our contents team moves belongings from damaged rooms into heated storage, so they stay clean and dry during repairs.
Contents Cleaning →Trauma and Biohazard Cleanup
We clean and disinfect any blood or biohazards left after a crash or injury, so no one in your family or on your staff has to handle it.
Biohazard Cleanup →Carpet and Upholstery Cleaning
When we clean the construction dust out of the carpet around a repair, you get rooms that look as finished as the repair itself.

Taylored Restoration FAQs
Anchorage, Mat-Su, and Fairbanks Board-Up and Structural Repair FAQs
Can you tarp a damaged roof in the snow?
Yes, as soon as it’s safe to get on the roof. A tarp keeps snow and meltwater out of the building until we handle the permanent roof repair.
Does insurance pay for board-up and temporary repairs?
Often, but it depends on your policy. Most insurers expect you to protect the property from further damage, so we document the emergency work with photos your adjuster can use.
What should I do if a car hits my house?
Make sure everyone is safe and call 911, then stay out of the damaged area. Once police have cleared the scene, call us, and we’ll secure the opening and repair the wall, framing, and siding the vehicle damaged.
Can you repair rot as well as storm or fire damage?
Yes. We replace rotted framing, sheathing, and siding and rebuild the area with proper insulation and a vapor barrier to help keep it dry, since rot in Alaska often starts with an ice dam or moisture trapped behind a wall.
Will the repair match the rest of my building?
In most cases, yes. We pick siding, trim, and paint to match what you already have, so the repaired section doesn’t stand out.
How long can a board-up or roof tarp stay in place?
Long enough to protect the building while we plan the permanent repairs, but it’s only a temporary fix. Wind and heavy snow wear on plywood and tarps over time, so we aim to start the permanent work as soon as the scope of work is ready.
