Mold Remediation
Removing Mold Without Spreading It
Most people’s first question about mold is how far it has spread, so that’s where we start. We trace the growth to its edges, put that area under negative air containment so spores stay out of the rooms you’re still using, and clean what can be saved, so we aren’t replacing materials the mold didn’t reach.
Removing mold usually requires opening walls, so who puts them back matters as much as who takes the mold out. We’ve been building and remodeling Alaska properties since 1972, and today we close up the walls we open, so you get a finished room back instead of an open wall.
How Mold Remediation Works
Our Mold Remediation Process
01
We look at the damage
We visit your property, check the growth and the surfaces around it with a moisture meter, find the leak or condensation behind it, and walk you through the plan for removing it.
02
We contain the work area
We close off the affected rooms with plastic sheeting and run HEPA air scrubbers under negative pressure, so spores stay contained, and the other rooms stay usable while we work.
03
We remove the mold
We take out the moldy drywall, insulation, and other materials that can’t be cleaned, clean the framing and surfaces that can stay, and clear the air before the containment comes down.
04
We rebuild the room
After we confirm the area is dry and nothing is still feeding the mold, we replace the materials we removed and send your adjuster our documentation if insurance is involved.
Before We Arrive
What to Do When You Find Mold
Leave Larger Growth Alone
If the mold covers more than a small spot, or it’s growing on drywall, insulation, or carpet, leave it alone. Scrubbing, bleaching, or painting over it can spread spores or hide growth that keeps spreading.
Stop the Water if You Can
If a leak is feeding the mold, shut off the water to that fixture or have a plumber fix it. Mold keeps coming back as long as the material it grows on stays wet, however well it’s cleaned.
Turn Off the Air System
Turn off a furnace or air handler you suspect has mold, so it doesn’t blow spores through the building, unless it’s your only heat in freezing weather. If anyone has health concerns, talk with a doctor before cleanup starts.

Our People
Our Alaska Mold Remediation Team
The crews on a mold job are used to working while families or staff use the rest of the building, so they keep the work sealed off and the other rooms clean.

Spotted mold in your home or business? We’ll find what’s feeding it
We’ll check how far the growth reaches and trace it back to its source, then explain what removing it will involve, so you know the size of the job before you decide.

Related Restoration Services for Mold Damage
Mold rarely shows up on its own. It usually follows a leak or flood that needs drying, and removing it often means rebuilding walls and cleaning the belongings that sat in the damp. We can take on any of that along with the mold removal, so you only have one company to schedule.
Water Damage Restoration
Our crews dry out wet framing, subfloors, and insulation after a leak, so the water has less time to feed new mold growth.
Water Damage Restoration →Fire and Smoke Damage Restoration
We remove soot and smoke odor at the source after a fire, so the smell isn’t a daily reminder of what happened.
Fire Damage Restoration →Frozen Pipes and Ice Dams
When a pipe bursts inside a wall, we dry and repair the damage, so mold doesn’t get a chance to start.

Taylored Restoration FAQs
Anchorage, Mat-Su, and Fairbanks Mold Remediation FAQs
Do I need mold testing before you remove it?
Usually not when you can see the mold. Visible growth tells us what needs to come out, and testing doesn’t change how we remove it. If you want lab results or suspect mold you can’t see, we can recommend a certified mold hygienist for air testing.
Will insurance pay for mold removal?
It depends on what caused it. Mold from a sudden covered event, like a burst pipe, is often included in that claim, while mold from a long-term leak or high humidity usually isn’t. Either way, we document what we find for your adjuster.
Can we stay in our home while you remove the mold?
Often, yes. We keep the work area closed off under negative air pressure, so you can continue using the rest of the house. If anyone in your household has health concerns, talk with your doctor before the work begins.
Why does mold keep showing up in the same spot?
Because something keeps that spot wet. Cleaning the surface doesn’t stop it, so we track down the moisture source, such as a slow leak, condensation, or poor ventilation, and make sure it’s dealt with before we rebuild.
Will my belongings need to be thrown out?
Not usually. We can often clean hard items like wood furniture, dishes, and glassware and return them to you. Soft items such as mattresses or upholstered furniture may not be worth saving, and we’ll go over each one with you.
Why do so many Alaska homes get mold in winter?
Because homes here stay sealed up for months to hold in heat. Moisture from cooking, showers, and drying laundry has fewer ways out, so it settles on cold walls and windows. We remove the growth and point out the spots where moisture collects, so you can keep it from building up again.
