3 Common Kitchen Layout Mistakes
Kitchen remodels are exciting - they can update the look of your entire home, and give you a more functional space. When planning your new kitchen, you’ll want to make sure that everything is perfectly laid out and easy to use. When planning your layout, try to avoid making these 3 common mistakes that can hinder the experience and functionality of your new kitchen.
1. Not enough light. When planning your kitchen, it’s important to have plenty of light sources. Dim kitchens can be dangerous and potentially cause accidents. It’s a good idea to have lots of overhead lighting, especially over any work spaces. Under cabinet lighting is also a great option.
2. Not enough storage. One of the biggest complaints about kitchens is that there’s not enough storage. When planning your kitchen, its always a good idea to plan for more storage than you think you need. This will give your home room to grow. If you plan to incorporate open shelving to your home, be sure to add more lower cabinets to make up for the lack of overhead storage space.
3. Not planning for enough walking space. It’s important to look at the overall floor space of your kitchen and determine if there is enough space for two people to walk around comfortably. Make sure someone is able to comfortably walk past you if you are using the counter. Also make sure there is enough space for you to comfortably open your dishwasher, fridge, and oven.
