How to Enjoy Your Patio all Year-Round

Some believe that the end of summer also marks the final days of enjoying your outdoor areas. But, by adding just a few design elements to your outdoor space, you can extend the good time through the fall months and (possibly) even the winter months surrounded by snow.

If you add a source of heat such as a fire pit or outdoor fireplace near a seating area, you’ll be able to warm up cold guests while providing a perfect place to gather round and drink a hot beverage or roast marshmallows. These can also be portable alternatives, which make it easy to transport when it starts to get warmer again.

With the darkness that fall and winter brings, lighting can play a large part as to how you enjoy your outdoor space. By adding more lighting and readjusting timers to illuminate your patio, you’ll stay outside longer. Adding different types of lighting such as path markers, spot lights or patio string lights, will make star gazing much more inviting.

Be sure to invest in patio furniture that is weather-resistant. This means, opting for seating and table options made from materials like powder coated steel, teak and polyresin wicker. Covering it or bringing it under cover during heavy rain or snowfalls will make it last much longer.

And lastly, who doesn’t love hot tubs when your backyard is covered in snow? The energizing feeling of jumping into a snow pile, than back into a warm hot tub will have you feeling warm and invigorated during a chilly time of year. When the temperature drops, the relaxation of outdoor draw quite a crowd. Theres a reason why Scandinavian cultures swear by this tradition.
