Give your Patio Cushions some TLC

Let’s face it - few pieces in your home furnishing collection take more punishment than your outdoor patio furniture. And, let’s not forget those very expensive cushions that come along with the frame. Can you believe the price of those things? It’s not in everyone’s budget to purchase new ones on a yearly basis, especially if they are only used seasonally. Whether your cushions are soaked at a pool party or stained from a sangria spill, they are bound to take some abuse. That’s why it’s important to give your outdoor furniture a little extra attention.

Today’s outdoor fabrics and finishes are built to last, but with time, dirt and grime can cause damage to the strongest of materials. Be sure to dust off any surface dirt on a regular basis and use a sponge or brush to apply a home cleaning solution consisting of: 1/4 cup mild detergent diluted in 1 gallon of water. Rinse thoroughly to remove all of the soap and allow fabric to dry in the fresh air. Your cushions should look as bright as the day you bought them.

One thing to note, if your cushions are covered in canvas, you may be able to unzip them and toss them in the washer. If you cannot remove them however, be sure to grab a bar of soap and apply suds using a soft bristle brush.

For hard to tackle stains, be sure to turn to professional upholstery cleaning services like the ones provided by us at Taylored Restoration. Happy Summer everyone!
